FAU CARD Teams with New FAU Charter Lab school and St Lucie County School District: Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition

FAU has been approved to begin charter lab school in Port St Lucie.  This school, Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition, will be administered by the St Lucie County School District.  FAU CARD has been asked to provide support and consultation for a special autism cluster - inclusion program at this new school.  We are now actively engaged in planning with the school and district team. It is great to be involved in the creation of a new school especially one in which a decision has been made to have a model autism program.  Palm Pointe is a regular school serving grades K-8 but it will have a cluster program and active efforts to include children with ASD.

The school is located in the new Traditions community just off I-95 about 35 miles north of Palm Beach County.  The school will open this August with Debra Snyder as the principal.  St Lucie is a mid size school district right on the Atlantic Coast in one of the fastest growing regions in the country.  Housing prices are very reasonable especially in the current housing market situation.  I can think of lots of good reasons for a teacher and family to consider relocating to this beautiful area.

If you are a teacher and you are interested in the opportunities at this exciting new school, please contact Stephanie DeMarzio, the ESE Department Chairperson for the Palm Pointe Educational Research School @ Tradition either by phone at 772-345-3271 or by email at dimarzios@stlucie.k12.fl.us

Or you may contact Dr Jack Scott, FAU CARD director at jscott@fau.edu.
