Freshman Academic Advising Services has
the responsibility of assisting all
incoming and current first year students
as they progress through the first 30
credit hours of their degree program.
Information regarding the majors within
the College of Education, curriculum
sheets by major, information regarding
the core curriculum and other important
resources are available through their
comprehensive web site.
All freshmen are required to
coordinate their course schedule
through this office. An academic
hold is placed on the registration
status, which can only be released
by communicating with Freshman

Freshman Academic Advising Services
For continuously enrolled FAU
students
If
you are an FAU student majoring in
one of the College of Education
degree programs, you are welcome to
set up an appointment for advising
in the Office for Academic and
Student Services (OASS) located on
the Boca Raton, Davie, MacArthur,
and Treasure Coast campuses.
Advisors in OASS typically work with
students as they progress towards
meeting the admission requirements
of their program. Teacher education
majors must complete 60 semester
hours with an overall grade point
average (GPA) of 2.5, and pass all
sections of the CLAST test for
formal admittance to take place. At
that point, students are assigned a
faculty member in their major
department to act as their faculty
advisor for the remainder of the
degree program. Exercise Science and
Health Promotion majors also have
specific admission criteria
including an overall 2.0 GPA and
completion of the CLAST or clearance
of a CLAST alternative assessment.
Faculty advisors are also assigned
in that major in order to plan out
the requirements for graduation
If
you have met the admission
requirements and have not yet been
referred to your faculty advisor,
contact OASS.
If
you are considering a change of
major to one of the College of
Education degree programs, you are
welcome to make an appointment with
an advisor. It is requested that you
provide a copy of your transcript at
that meeting.
For returning or prospective
students
Contact an advisor on your campus to
discuss your specific situation.
OASS will be happy to assist or to
refer you to the appropriate area.
To
set up an appointment for advising,
call or email an advisor on your
campus.
