The College of Education undergraduate
and graduate degree programs all have
certain standardized test requirements
necessary either for admission or for
graduation.
The following is a general summary of
the testing requirements
Undergraduate Majors
To be admitted to the bachelor’s
degree in elementary education,
English education, music education,
social science education, math
education, science education
(biology, chemistry, physics),
exceptional student education, or a
secondary education certification
component (Art, French, German,
Spanish), the requirements are as
follows:
1. Completion of 60 semesters with
an overall 2.5 grade point average
on the lower division general
education component of undergraduate
studies;
2. Passing
scores on all sections of the CLAST
exam with no exemptions
accepted.
Exercise Science and Health
Promotion majors must also satisfy
the CLAST, but may be able to
utilize exemptions based on SAT/ACT
results, or grades earned in
specific courses.

Additionally, teacher education
majors will be required to satisfy
Florida Teacher Certification
Examinations prior to student
teaching including a Professional
Education
test, a Subject Area test, and a
General Knowledge test.
For specific information on
scheduling these tests, students
should speak to their assigned
academic advisor once they have been
formally admitted to their teacher
education program.
Graduate majors
Admission to all graduate programs
in the College requires the Graduate
Record Examination
(GRE).
Curriculum materials published
regarding specific programs will
indicate necessary scores.
