2014 Honors Convocation Ceremony

April 16, 2014

Dr. Dilys Schoorman was awarded the 2013-2014 Scholar of the Year Award. Dr. Ilene Allgood was awarded the Excellence and Innovation in Undergraduate Teaching Award. Sumbla Pervaiz was awarded the College of Education’s University Scholar Award.


Family, colleagues, and friends celebrated after the awards ceremony.

Stand Among Friends – EMB(RACE)

February 23, 2014

This was the department’s second year participating in EMB(RACE). Much appreciation goes out to the team members and donors. EMB(RACE) is a great event that raises funds for Stand Among Friends, a nonprofit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities. If you weren’t able to join us this year, look out for the team invitation next year!

Dr. Traci Baxley Receives Teaching Award

Dr. Baxley (pictured on right) received an Award for Excellence and Innovation in Undergraduate Teaching for 2013! Associate Provost Diane Alperin (pictured on left) presented the award at the annual Honors Convocation in April. Dr. Baxley is an Associate Professor and Coordinator of the Social Foundations Multicultural Education Program in the CCEI department.


CCEI Associate Professor Named Distinguished Teacher of the Year

Congratulations to Dr. Traci Baxley for being selected as the 2013 College of Education Distinguished Teacher of the Year! Dr. Baxley was selected on the basis of her scholarship, research, and publications; classroom teaching; experience; academic counseling; concern and involvement in student activities; and University and community service. Congratulations again Dr. Baxley!


Emeritus Professor

Spring, 2013

Dr. Carlos Diaz has been awarded the rank of Emeritus Professor in the College of Education – congratulations! Dr. Diaz recently retired from the Department of Curriculum, Culture and Educational Inquiry after 30 years of teaching, service and scholarship. The CCEI department looks forward to continuing affiliation with him as an Emeritus Professor.
