Welcome to the Multicultural Education Program! The M.Ed. in Social Foundations/ Multicultural Education offers students of multiple disciplines a strong foundation in the principles of multiculturalism, equity and social justice. Our aim is to facilitate meaningful educational experiences that contribute directly to students’ professional practice in diverse contexts. Our faculty are actively engaged in the community working with under-represented groups, and are dedicated to supporting teachers in challenging professional times. Our personal, professional and community experiences strongly influence our pedagogy that calls for educators to be leaders in multiple contexts and where students experience the joy and power of learning. We are delighted to support the College of Education’s commitment to diversity in its conceptual framework.

"No teacher should ever walk into a classroom without the tools of knowledge that come from our social foundations in education."
Leila Shatara, M.Ed. (2006)
