As
one of the fastest growing
universities in the nation,
Florida Atlantic University now
serves over 26,000 students from
very diverse backgrounds. FAU
was established in 1961 and has
7 campuses to serve all of south
Florida with various
collaborations with other
universities. Enrollment is
expected to double within 10
years. The College of Education
has been part of FAU since its
inception with almost 20,000
alumni since classes started on
the Boca Raton campus. Now, the
College of Education has
expanded to the Fort Lauderdale,
Davie, Jupiter, and Port St.
Lucie campuses as well.
The College of Education is
dedicated to the development of
educational professionals,
individuals with a sound
knowledge base built on the best
available research, theory, and
practical applications –
individuals with high standards
of ethical behavior and a
commitment to excellence and
continued learning. The faculty
that inspire these students are
committed to providing the best
training for our students in
order to ensure that FAU is
meeting the educational needs of
the 21st century.
With the rising financial cost
of a college education, it
becomes more and more difficult
to hire top quality professors,
and for young people to afford a
quality education and an
opportunity for a better future.
There is also a huge concern
over the tremendous shortage of
qualified teachers that our
country is facing. Over the next
10 years, we will need to hire 2
million teachers to fill the
requirements of our educational
systems nationwide. Every effort
is being made by the College of
Education at FAU to attract the
brightest students into the
field of teaching.
As one of our many alumni, you
can play an important role in
helping us meet those enormous
needs. Your annual contribution,
no matter how small or large,
can make a difference. Please
remember to support the College
of Education so that we can
continue to provide the best
education possible for our
future graduates.
