Dr. Jim Forgan
Dr. Forgan's Home Page
Jim Forgan, Ph.D. earned his
doctorate from the
University of Miami.
He is currently writing a
book with Dr. Mary Lou Duffy
on designing programs to
mentor beginning special
education teachers. Dr.
Forgan is the project
director for the Southeast
Regional Comprehensive
System of Personnel
Development grant that
focuses on recruiting and
retaining teachers in
special education (www.coe.fau.edu/cspd).
He works with an advisory
council of approximately 40
individuals to design
activities to support
teachers of students with
disabilities. Dr. Forgan is
also the Palm Beach project
director for the US DOE
funded grant,
Reducing Attrition and
Increasing Special Education
Minority Teachers
(RAISE-MT:
www.coe.fau.edu/raisemt).
The purpose of this grant is
to increase the number of
master’s level special
education teachers using a
professional development
school model. Dr. Forgan’s
second book,
Teaching Problem Solving
Using Children’s Literature,
was recently published by
Libraries Unlimited.
