Dr. Lydia Smiley
Lydia R. Smiley, Ph.D., is
currently a professor of
Exceptional Student
Education at Florida
Atlantic University, Boca
Raton. She received a
master's degree in mental
retardation from Winthrop
College and a doctorate in
learning disabilities with a
cognate in linguistics and
language development from
Georgia State University.
She taught in the field of
special education for 4
years in South Carolina. Dr.
Smiley's major teaching and
research interests are in
the areas of language and
learning disabilities,
cognitive and metacognitive
strategies intervention, and
linguistic and cultural
diversity. Her most recent
contribution to the field of
special education is the
1998 publication of
Language Delays and
Disorders: from Research
to Practice, coauthored with
another FAU faculty member,
Dr. Peggy Goldstein. |
