The Florida Atlantic University Holocaust Studies Summer Institute will take place at the FAU campus
in Port St. Lucie, Florida. The Summer Institute prepares educators to implement the state mandate
requiring Holocaust education in all Florida schools. The program’s goal is to deepen educators’
knowledge about the Holocaust, to expose educators to pedagogically sound methods for teaching the
Holocaust and to foster inquiry into contemporary issues raised by the study of the Holocaust,
genocide and human rights. The program enables teachers to study the Holocaust as members of a
learning community in a setting that brings together peers, university scholars and Holocaust
survivors. Each day features lectures, demonstrations of resources and classroom applications.
