MASTER’S
DEGREE (M.Ed.) in CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION
with
ESOL Endorsement (English to Speakers of Other Languages)
The
Department of Teacher Education offers a program of study leading to a
Master's Degree in English to Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL).
This endorsement program is directed toward currently certified (or
certifiable) and/or experienced teachers who are pursuing an advanced
degree and not currently ESOL endorsed. Upon completion of this degree
program teachers will have satisfied the Florida state ESOL endorsement
requirement.
- Admission
Requirements: To be admitted to the Master’s Degree in ESOL,
the student must complete the graduate application
and provide documentation that they:
- have
a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university;
- have
a Professional (five year) Florida certificate or be certifiable in
Florida;
- have
GRE (Graduate Record Examination) scores on file at FAU; no more than
five years old.
- have
a 2.5, or better, on the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate work
prior to the granting
of the bachelor’s degree and a score of 1000, or better, on the
general section of the Graduate Record Examination (quantitative and verbal combined–not
analytical), OR a 3.0, or better, on the last 60 semester hours of undergraduate
work prior to the granting of the bachelor’s degree and a score of 900, or better, on the general
section of the Graduate Record Examination (quantitative and verbal combined–not analytical);
- have
been admitted by the Department of Teacher Education.
