Goals
Goal I: Increase the number of quality teachers available for Broward County Schools
Objective 1.1 Create a learning centered community characterized by norms and practices that support adult and children's learning
1.1.1 Supervise and monitor preservice teachers through coaching and mentoring
1.1.2 Provide a rigorous four-year high school curriculum plan aligned with educator preparation
1.1.3 Offer dual enrollment with participating higher education partners for college education courses
1.1.4 Support individual students from high school through college with personalized academic counseling
1.1.5 Facilitate regularly scheduled learning communities
Goal II: Enhance the capacity of Broward's teachers to work with at-risk students
Objective 2.1 Increase preservice teachers' skills in working with at-risk students
2.1.1 Model successful practices, facilitate inservice for current teachers, share with universities through video conferencing and Teacher Learning Centers (program provided observation classrooms)
Goal III: Raise the achievement of urban students to the highest level
Objective 3.1 Ensure high standards in teacher recruitment and preparation
3.1.1 Provide continuing education for current teachers through university vouchers and stipends
3.1.2 Create smaller adult to student ratios
3.1.3 Reciprocally collaborate with colleges and universities
Objective 3.2 Formulate on-site professional development models to support preservice and inservice education
3.2.1 Model successful practices, facilitate inservice for current teachers, share with universities through video conferencing and serve as liaisons between the urban schools and higher education institutions
