Project PROMISE (Partners Responding with Options furthering the Mission to Increase Success for Educators)
- The Broward County School District's Teaching and Leadership Center at FAU
offers a variety of intensive alternative teacher preparation and certification
programs. These programs are designed for:
- prospective and current secondary non-education trained teachers in mathematics, science, Special Education, or English/language arts; and
- current teachers presently teaching social studies or elementary education in a Broward County public school;
- only if availability permits, consideration will also be given to prospective teachers eligible to teach social studies and elementary education .
- These programs provide initial professional development preparation activities to ensure program participants are well trained to enter the classroom.
- Successful candidates in the programs will be eligible to receive free college tuition for courses leading to their professional teaching certificate.
- Funded through the U.S. Department of Education's Transition to Teaching Grant initiative.
- Participants will be selected twice per year for a June cohort and for a January cohort.
